RAD Blocks for Travel Apps

TravelBroker

What is TravelBroker?

TravelBroker is rapid application development framework for travel industry related software applications. It’s a core XML communication framework to different travel component suppliers like GDS for flights. To site an example, XML communication formats (request / response) of Flight Broker adapter remain same for all the GDSs though native communication format of individual GDSs are different. Any flight booking engine that uses Flight

Primary Features

  1. XML based communication
  2. Currently worldspan, Amadeus, Galileo, GTA
  3. Unified interfaces for linked suppliers
  4. Easy to understand for rapid development
  5. Scalable to add similar data sources without altering the interface

Agency and Technology – Indian View

My first post!!!

Before writing further- let me accept that it took me more than 3 hours to put a decent (relevant) title to blog home and additional 1 hour to decide title of this post. I am still not sure if these titles are relevant – it had to start with something…

Technology is EXTRA cost, get it FREE

Indian travel industry, as I read somewhere, is going to be a USD 12Billion market place by 2010. However with 5000+ IATAs and doubled the size of NON-IATAs, its unfortunate to mention that technology adaption by agencies is quite slow. There are agents who follow technology closely and analyze the benefits/losses they might have had by spending few thousand on technology.

However majority of these agents are still unable to come out of the FREE to avail habits, thanks to suppliers – especially GDSs – where they reach out any possible measure to bag agents J

Technology is NO cost but an investment to be FREE

will add some thoughts in this week..
